School Grounds Day at Beechlawn School

Beechlawn School in Hillsborough hosted another highly successful Grounds Day recently. The event, which took place within the school grounds, incorporated many exciting and educational stands and displays, including Lisa Finn, our Waste Education Officer based in Lisburn City Council.
Lisa was on hand on the day providing information on how to reduce, reuse and recycle and she also held a series of craft workshops for all the students reusing old tights and compost made from the Brown Bin collections to create funky Grass Heads.
Not only did the students of Beechlawn get involved but a group of Primary 7 students from Brookfield Primary School also attended the waste education craft workshops. It was a great success with each participant getting the chance to create and personalise his or her own Grass Head! And it wasn’t just the students that enjoyed the fun; many of the teachers went home with their very own Grass Head too!
Free Waste education workshops, such as this one, are being provided by Bryson Education in partnership with Lisburn City Council to any interested clubs, groups, schools or organisations who want to learn more about Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
