Katie's One Good Idea beats the Competition

This year the all island photographic competition ‘One Good Idea’ organised by the Northern Ireland Energy Agency and the Sustainable Energy Authority Ireland was won by Katie McCormick from Glengormley High School.
The aim of this year’s competition was to take a photograph that would raise awareness on the things everyone can do to tackle climate change by using energy more efficiently, by making changes to the way we live, work, travel or generate our electricity.
Katie beat off competition from pupils across the Island, including very strong entires from other pupils from her own school to carry off the top prize.
Katie was presented with a trophy at the National Finals held in Dublin Castle and will also receive an iPod and docking station as her prize and a certificate for her school and Katie’s picture, along with the winning regional photographs will be used to produce a 2011 calendar.
George Lyttle, Education Coordinator from the Northern Ireland Energy Agency said “It was fantastic that the overall winner of the competition was from Northern Ireland. This is the third year now that the top picture has been taken by a pupil from the North. Overall that standard was very high, and the judges all had a tough time deciding on the best picture.”
