Programmes Available
Energy
The Energy Efficiency programme is Curriculum linked and available as a one hour classroom presentation for Key Stage Two classes. During the presentation the pupils learn about how most of our electricity is generated, problems this causes, alternative sources of electricity and how we can reduce the amount of energy we use in our homes and at school.
Waste
Sort It Out! visits on Reduce, Reuse, Recycle range from talks to several classes in the assembly hall to lessons in the classroom, drama, arts, crafts and activities.
Each visit can be tailored to suit the needs of the school and the age and ability of the pupils and we use a variety of different delivery methods. All programmes are curriculum linked and our approach aims to encourage children to participate in recycling themselves as well as carrying the message home to their families and community.
The Sustainable World is the waste programme for Key Stage Three and is available as a presentation or classroom sessions.
Although the techniques are different, every visit has the same underlying message, we must reduce the amount of waste we send to the landfill. Whether this is by changing shopping habits, or by reusing and recycling more materials. We also focus on the recycling facilities are available in the local area e.g. blue bin, kerbside box, green bin etc. We are also careful to explain the reasons behind the need to reduce, reuse and recycle e.g. landfill capacity, environmental destruction due to acquisition of raw materials etc.
